Snow Reporter Comments: Afternoon Report, 3:50 PM The backside is open. The backside is open. THE BACKSIDE IS OPEN.The backside snowfields are legendary. They are experts only. And for the first time since spring of 2023, they are open. The snow is soft, but wind-packed in some areas. It'll ski and ride even better after a little traffic. Coverage is great, but of course, hazards exist. Hazards become much more hazardous when they're located on a pitch that steep. If you've never explored the backside, please visit the ski patrol shack at the top of the Timberline lift before crossing through the gate and read all posted signage.High Rigger and Hard Tack are the two lines that are currently open. Their open status is conditions dependent, and they're only accessible when the Timberline lift is spinning.Tomorrow looks breezy, with moderate winds forecast to be 20 to 35 mph at the summit under particularly sunny skies. Temperatures will max out around 18°F up top and 29°F down low.Groomers are adding the summit trails back to their grooming list. Our parks crew should be reopening Lower Cruiser tomorrow. It's Thiiiirsty Thursday at the Widowmaker from 2 to 5 PM with $6 Samuel Adams brews, $7 Sun Cruiser, and bar bites to keep you upright.Lift hours for tomorrow are as follows: Snubber, SuperQuad, DRC-A, Skyline, Bucksaw Express, and Skidway open at 8:30, Whiffletree opens at 8:45, and Timberline and King Pine open at 9:00.WinterKids starts at 8 PM tonight. Already looking forward to the after party with North of Nashville. All details are at the quick link.Enjoy the ride,Alex
