Solitude’s terrain is spread across 1,200 acres and offers a diverse mix of groomed runs, tree-lined trails, and expansive alpine bowls. The mountain is served by 8 lifts, including the Apex Express, Sunrise Lift, and Summit Express, which provide access to key zones across the resort. Beginners will find gentle slopes near the Moonbeam base, with wide trails like Easy Street and Link offering a comfortable learning environment. The resort’s 100% beginner-accessible designation ensures that newcomers can explore without feeling limited.

Intermediate skiers have plenty to explore, especially off the Eagle Express and Sunrise Lift. Runs like Serenity and Dynamite offer long, flowing descents with consistent pitch and scenic views. These trails are ideal for building confidence and enjoying the mountain’s natural beauty. The terrain parks—Playground and Main Street—are also accessible from these lifts and feature progressive features for freestyle riders.

Advanced terrain is concentrated around the Summit Express and Powderhorn II lifts. Here, skiers can drop into Sunshine Bowl, Challenger, and Diamond Lane for steeper pitches and more technical descents. These areas are groomed regularly but retain a natural feel, with wind lips and rolling terrain that reward dynamic skiing. The views from the summit are expansive, stretching across the Wasatch Range.

Expert skiers will find their challenge in Honeycomb Canyon, a lift-accessed backcountry-style zone with chutes, glades, and natural features. Runs like Black Forest and Here Be Trees offer steep lines and powder stashes that hold up well after storms. This area is not groomed and requires strong navigation skills, but it’s a favorite among locals for its raw terrain and solitude.

Families should start their day at the Moonbeam Center, where rentals, lessons, and dining are all in one place. The nearby beginner terrain is visible from the lodge, making it easy to regroup and relax. For a scenic cruise, take the Link trail from the top of Sunrise Lift—it’s long, mellow, and offers great views of the canyon.

Solitude’s terrain diversity makes it a standout for skiers of all levels. Whether you’re carving groomers, dropping into bowls, or exploring tree runs, the mountain offers a full range of experiences. With fewer crowds and a thoughtful layout, it’s a resort that encourages exploration and rewards skill.
