Sundance Resort’s terrain is spread across 600 acres, offering 71 trails that wind through alpine forests, open bowls, and scenic ridgelines. The base elevation starts at 6,100 feet and climbs to a summit of 8,250 feet, giving skiers a vertical drop of 2,150 feet. The skiable terrain allows for easy navigation of the mountain without feeling repetitive.
Beginners will find a wide variety of welcoming terrain. Our Mid-Mountain terrain that is accessed via Wildwood Lift is designed for beginner to lower-level skiers. With wide runs through Aspen forests, this terrain is great for beginners and those wanting to progress to the next level. Outlaw Express Mid-station offers our signature beginner run, Stampede, which flows back down to the base of Outlaw Express. For the never-ever riders, Sundance Resort has a true beginner area with three magic carpets, ideal for families and first timers. Sundance Resort also boasts a world class Ski School that can truly enhance your learning curve and enjoyment.
Intermediate skiers can enjoy long cruisers like Maverick and Bearclaw, which offer consistent pitch and beautiful views of Mount Timpanogos. Both Outlaw Express and Electric Horseman provide quick access to all Intermediate terrain.
Advanced terrain makes up a significant portion of the mountain, with 43% of trails falling into this category. Runs like Top Gun and Bishop’s Bowl deliver steeper descents and natural features that challenge technique and stamina. Electric Horseman, with a 6-minute lift ride, boasts easy access to all advanced terrain on the Back Mountain.
2026/2027 will feature an exciting Back Mountain Terrain expansion, including the long-awaited opening of Electric Horseman, a new high-speed quad serving top to bottom access to all Back Mountain terrain in just six minutes.
As part of this exciting terrain expansion, the new Storyteller ridgeline, formerly the Far East ridgeline, has been expanded to add the new Storyteller run, a signature upper-intermediate-level groomed trail with jaw-dropping views, the name paying homage to the stories that built Sundance Mountain Resort. The Storyteller ridgeline expansion also includes three new expert-level, tree-lined, gladed chutes that will join the lower end of the extended Pipeline run and flow into the new Electric Horseman lift base. Guests will be able to lap this 1850 feet of vertical drop on repeat with a quick 6-minute lift ride up Electric Horseman.
